Cercidiphyllum japonicum ist ein aus Ost-Asien stammender, laubabwerfender Baum. In Gärten und Parkanlagen Mittel-Europas wird diese Art als Solitärgehölz gepflanzt. Das alternde Laub, besonders aber frisches Falllaub, duftet intensiv nach Lebkuchen.
