Berkheya – bew(a)ehrte Blütenwunder

Südafrika ist das Hauptverbreitungsgebiet der Gattung Berkheya. Berkheya purpurea und B. multijuga dringen bis in die kühlen Gebirgsregionen der Drakensberge vor und verfügen daher über eine entsprechende Kälte- und Frosttoleranz. Ihre auffallend gefärbten Korbblüten von beachtlicher Größe machen sie für den Staudengarten interessant.
