Die Poor Knights Lily – eine seltene Schönheit vom anderen Ende der Welt

Eine eigentümliche monokotyle Pflanze mit leuchtend roten, flaschenbürstenförmigen Blütenständen und schwertlilienartiger Belaubung wird vorgestellt: die Poor Knights Lily (Xeronema callistemon). Diese Art hat ein sehr kleines Verbreitungsgebiet: Sie ist endemisch auf zwei der neuseeländischen Nordinsel vorgelagerten Inselgruppen. Sie wächst an offenen Felsstandorten und wird teilweise von Meerwasser übersprüht. Einige Kulturhinweise werden gegeben.
