Further clarification: Rosa dumalis and not Rosa vosagiaca is the correct name for the Glaucous Dog-rose (Vosges rose)

The illegitimacy of the name Rosa vosagiaca is proved on the basis of the original literature. Contrary to the view of Bakker & al. (2019) the author finds nothing in the protologue of Rosa dumalis Bechstein 1810 that might be incompatible with the current use of this name for the Glaucous Dog-rose in continental Europe. There is also no reason to criticize the neotype choice by Loos (1996). On the other hand there are several objections against the use of the name R. dumalis for hybrids in Graham & Primavesi (1993) and Bakker & al. (2019).
