Abstract

In 2019, Viola riviniana, V. reichenbachiana and their hybrid, Sanguisorba officinalis, Koeleria and Scrophularia umbrosa s. l. were examined by flow cytometry. In Viola, in addition to the parent species, the hybrid Viola ×bavarica was also detected several times. Plants with short, partly blue spurs, however, were mostly found to be V. riviniana. In Sanguisorba officinalis we only found octoploid (8x) plants. The similar Koeleria macrantha and K. pyramidata differed very clearly in relative DNA content, K. macrantha proved to be tetraploid (4x), K. pyramidata probably decaploid (10x). The only German occurrence of K. vallesiana is hexaploid (6x) and thus belongs to the nominate subspecies. In K. glauca we could confirm diploidy (2x) for Germany. K. grandis has similar relative DNA contents as K. pyramidata and is also likely to be decaploid (10x). Individual measurements of Scrophularia confirmed that they belong to S. neesii and S. umbrosa. In Sanguisorba and Viola, measurements were not successful in many cases.
