Flow cytometric ploidy estimation of studied Senecio species suggest tetraploidy. S. aquaticus from the Alpine Foreland revealed a smaller relative genome DNA content when compared to plants from other areas. Ploidy estimations of Scrophularia umbrosa s. l. confirm and complement the geographical distribution of S. neesii and S. umbrosa s. str. in Germany. Ploidy estimations of Aira did not suggest the presence of A. multiculmis at the studied localities.
