Minuartia mediterranea, new to Germany

Abstract

In 2005, a population of M. mediterranea was found in Schutterwald, SW Baden-Württemberg. The species is growing mainly alongside rural roads. This short note summarizes morphological characters of the taxon and describes differences to the similar M. hybrida. Occurrences in extra-Mediterranean parts of Europe are discussed. A chromosome count showed the diploid number 2n = 24.
