History of the study of broomrape plants (genera Orobanche and Phelipanche)

Abstract

The article lights up the history of the investigation of the broomrapes (Orobanchaceae), in particular of the genera Orobanche and Phelipanche, from her origins up to the publication of Linné's "Species Plantarum" in 1753. Furthermore the article deals with the interpretation of different describing phrases used for Orobanche from the time before and shortly after introduction of the binary nomenclature Linné's.
